School is almost officially over for this year! It has been a challenge the past few months, but we did it!
Please know that I was glad to have each and every one of you in my homeroom this year. I wish we had been able to ride some rides together at Disneyland!
Work for history and reading are posted today for the week of May 18, 2020 on my Google Classroom page. Check it out and keep your brain active! High school is just around the corner!

Can you believe it has been two months since we were last in class! It was great to see all of you on Saturday picking up your cap and gown.
Don't forget to upload a picture of you in your cap and gown before May 15! You can also add "wills" and "remember whens" to that same Google Classroom page for 8th graders.
Work for this week can be found either in the packets or on my Google Classroom reading and history pages. As far as history is concerned, you still have a TCI account and you can work there too.

I apologize for being a day late with updates. Quite a few students met on the ZOOM meeting we had yesterday. The important take-aways are to upload your pictures, memories, remember whens, and wills to Mrs. Bell's Google Classroom page she made for the graduation video. Also, please try to come to the school on Saturday morning to do a drive thru cap and gown distribution from 9:30-10:30 am. I am excited to finally see you all after two months at home.
Keep working on the packets, checking Google Classroom and doing the reading assignments on ActivelyLearn (linked to Google Classroom). Keep READING!!!

Don't forget to log in to the invitation I sent out last week for a Zoom meeting at 1:00 today! This is your change to discuss together your concerns about the end of the school year.
Remember, however, that school is not over yet! All of your teachers work together to create work meant to prepare you for high school next year. I am here for you if you have concerns or need help. Please contact me.
Also, if you have not voted for what you would like to see for graduation, please do before the end of today, April 27. I will be giving Mrs. Jones the results so she can share them with the school board. I am very pleased that 39 out of 56 (about 70%) of you have already responded.
I will be calling or emailing you tomorrow, so look for that. If I had your phone numbers, I could speak directly to you. I would enjoy that.

I hope everyone is checking in on my webpage. It seems this has been a busy week, as I have updated three times this week.
NEW!! I set up a Zoom Meeting for Monday at 1:00pm. You will receive an invitation in your school email (which is now working) and you just click the link to join. Supposedly, you do not need a Zoom account to join a meeting. You should be able to join through the Zoom moblie application. This is new territory for me, and I hope it works as planned. If so, I will see you and talk to you on Monday. I sure do miss you guys.

It was great checking in with everyone this week. I really would encourage you to log into Google Classroom and sign in to the History page for 8th grade. So far only two students have done this. :( I am trying to figure out how to add some history videos to watch, so you will want to check on that.
If you sign in to your TCI account and go to Chapter 21, I have included a new slide show feature to help you as you are learning about the causes of the Civil War.

It was great to hear your voices or check in with your parents last week. I will be calling you every week to see how things are doing. I also will have questions about graduation, so please be looking for my call. My Google Classroom is now updated with work for next week. If you have questions, please email me or call me at 559-423-0426.
Progress reports will be sent home this week. If you have questions, email or call me.
Shout out to Tagen and Emma for submitting an ABC's of Coronavirus book on Google Classroom! Awesome work girls! I appreciate your effort!

Good morning! I need every student in my homeroom to email me at jpasley@kitcarsonschool.com so I can give you some important information about graduation. Please do this by Tuesday April 21, 2020. Spread the word around in case not everyone looks at the webpage.
Also, if you need to contact me, you may call 559-423-0426. If I am not available, leave a message and I will call you back.

Hi again! I hope everyone had a nice holiday with family at home. Now it is time for thinking about work again.
1. I have added new assignments to the Google Classroom for both reading as well as both 7th and 8th grade history. Please see these assignments or pick up a packet at the front of the school.
2. Keep reading for enjoyment as Mrs. Jones is working on making AR available on your home computer. Yea!
3. Check your grades online and if you want to find out how to bring up your D or F, you can email me and we will work it out.

I want you to know how much I truly miss seeing each of you in these trying times. I miss how you make me laugh and keep me young.
I hope you are staying healthy and safe at home while spending quality time with your families. Please keep reading and staying sharp so you will still be ready for high school in just a few more months.
Each week of this quarantine I will post some reading articles for my homeroom, as well as some history or current event articles for all 7th and 8th grade students. This work is for you and is not required at this time. To access this work, please click on the Google Classroom tab. While you are on Google Classroom, I need you to sign into the NewsELA and Actively Learn accounts. Both are free, and both will allow me to assign some things for you to do.
To get math and science assignments, please go to Mr. Benedict and Mrs. Bell's webpages.
I am looking forward to seeing you all again really soon.
